Before I left, I set the intention to work on my relationship with my body, as well as challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone—and wow, did I ever! I managed to heal some very deep, old wounds and rewrite some toxic, outdated stories about myself. I came home feeling so much more compassionate for all the past versions of myself: for the girl who struggled to feel like she belonged; for the teenager who didn’t feel beautiful; and for the adult, who has grappled with self-doubt and unworthiness. Of course, I will always have to work on these parts of myself, but those ten days in Bali helped me quantum leap past so many layers of bullshit to which I’d been clinging for literal decades.
