WONDERS OF THE WORLD

After a delicious breakfast, we will visit the Saqqara Complex to see the step pyramid. Afterward, we will head to lunch with a panoramic view of the first wonder of the world!  😮  Then we will visit the place on everyone’s vision board: The Great Pyramids of Giza & The Sphinx. 

In the evening, we will visit Old Cairo, where you can learn more about modern Egypt and the Egyptian Revolution during the Arab Spring. Following dinner, we will go to a show to see the mesmerizing Sufi Tanoura dancers.

More than a single story

On our second full day in Cairo, we will head to see the pyramids of Dashour. You will behold the Bent Pyramid, with its unique sloping sides, a testament to the evolution of pyramid design. Stand in awe before the Red Pyramid, its towering presence a testament to the ambition of the pharaohs who commissioned its construction.

In the afternoon we will visit the village of Dashour to learn more about Egyptian culture. We will be given a cooking class of some classic Egyptian staples: Molokhia and Maashi. Later, we will ride a felucca down the Nile at golden hour. 🌅 In the evening, we will head to a delightfully elevated dinner, so you can see another side of Cairo.

road trip! DESTINATION: NORTH COAST

We will be driving about 4 hours (you have’t been to Egypt until you experience the driving!) to get to the Mediterranean Sea (aka North Coast). We will be getting a little R&R from the Cairo chaos at the luxury Marmarica Boutique Cabanas.

Magical oasis

We will be getting back on the road for the 4 hour drive to the Siwa Oasis, smack dab in the Sahara Desert. This place is PURE MAGIC! Actually, it’s my favorite place on Earth. The salt in Siwa creates an unparalleled type of grounding. 

 We will start with a visit to Shali Village, a 13th century mud fortress. Here will we begin to learn about the oasis and the history of Siwa. We will then check into Talist Ecolodge. Prepare for a new experience! There is a bar to charge your devices, but there are no lights in your room - just candles 😍 We will watch the sunset over the Western lakes and then head to a candlelit dinner looking out at Shali fortress. We will wrap up the night with a dip in the hot springs under the most beautiful stars you’ve ever seen. ✨

SALTY. But in a good way.

We will kick this day off with a visit to the Siwa salt pools. You won’t believe how magical they are until you see them. You will spend the morning floating (literally floating - you cannot sink!)  in these healing pools. Trust me. You won’t want to leave! After our float, we will visit the Oracle Temple and the Mountain of the Dead. In the evening, we will visit another beautiful ecolodge for a delicious dinner and an incredible view of the sky. If we are lucky, we will see the Milky Way.

desert, dunes, dinner

Today we are going on an adventure DEEP into the desert. We will be 4x4ing with a local and well-respected guide who knows the desert better than anyone! We will visit the cold lake AND the hot spring. Maybe we will find some seashells along the way, because the desert was underwater 40 million years ago 🤯 

 In the afternoon, we will ride camels in the dunes and then enjoy an indulgent meal at a desert camp set-up just for dinner.

We will board a private charter plane back to Cairo (skipping a 13 hour drive - you’re welcome 🤣 ). We will check into the airport hotel and everyone will begin their departures.

I cried when I saw the pyramids for the first time, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. I never thought traveling to Egypt was accessible, but Londa curated every detail of the most magical experience for us that made me feel safe and took me to places I never even imagined.

I felt like I experienced so many different sides of Egypt I didn't even know existed, from the bustling streets of Cairo to the insanely beautiful beaches of Marsa Matruh.  But for me, Siwa was the absolute highlight of the trip. MAGICAL doesn't even begin to describe it. I had one of the best days of my life floating in the salt pool, 4x4ing in the desert, collecting sand shells and soaking in the hot pools. We will board a flight to Luxor in Upper Egypt (which is actually the South part of Egypt). We will immediately go to visit Dendera where the Temple of Hathor is located. This is one of Egypt’s most well-preserved temples and is BEAUTIFUL. It has the original zodiac on the ceiling. After visiting the temple, we will board our PRIVATE nile cruise ship (called a Dahabiya). Once we get settled, we will head to the East Bank in Luxor to visit Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. We will be overnight on the boat.

up, up, and away!

For those of you who choose to do so, you will be up in the wee hours of the morning to take a sunrise hot air balloon over Luxor 🎈🌄 . It is breathtaking! We will spend the morning visiting the West Bank of Luxor to see the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut. We will have lunch on board on boat as we cruise the Nile to Esna.

ZODIACS & ROMANCE

Today we will visit the Temple of Esna. The temple is dedicated to the ram-headed god Khnum, who was believed to be the creator god responsible for shaping human beings from clay on a potter's wheel. One of the most striking features of the Temple of Esna is its impressive ceiling, which is decorated with a detailed representation of the zodiac, depicting the signs of the Egyptian and Greek zodiacs along with other celestial symbols. These have very recently been restored! 

In the afternoon, we will visit Edfu Temple also known as the Temple of Horus. The Edfu Temple is particularly famous for its annual festival known as the "Feast of the Beautiful Meeting," which commemorated the mythical marriage between Horus and Hathor. During the festival, the statue of Hathor from her temple in Dendera would be brought to Edfu, and the divine couple would be reunited in a joyous celebration.

In the afternoon, we will go to Ramady Island to have a BBQ picnic and enjoy the view and each other’s company.

cruisin' the nile

We will continue our cruise down the Nile and stop at Besaw village. We will get to experience true Egyptian hospitality and meet with locals from the farming community. After lunch onboard, will will head to Herdiab Island. On Herbiab Island, you can relax, swim or stroll along the sandy beaches. The say if you drink from the Nile, you will return to Egypt, but this is just a metaphor (don't drink the water)🤣 Swimming in it will do just the same 😁

nile to nubia

Today we will arrive in Aswan and officially say goodbye to our boat. We will take another smaller boat to get to Nubian Village. Here we will visit the Temple of Philae aka Temple of Isis. Fun fact: They had to relocate the temple entirely due to the development of the Dam. This will be extremely impressive when you see it! After our temple visit, we will check into the Nubian Guest House which is SO cute and the views are 🤩 In the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to do some kayaking in the Nile.

I'm on a boat!

We will say goodbye to Upper Egypt and get on a plane to Marsa Alam, located on the coast of the Red Sea. We will board our private liveaboard boat which will be our home for the next part of the adventure. The Red Sea is giving vibes. 🧜🏻‍♀️ The water is unbelievable. We will visit a private island to have lunch and do some swimming.

TODAY IS THE DAY! We will sail to Dolphin House where we will have the opportunity to swim with dolphins in their natural habitat. September is the season! 🐬 There can be upwards of 100 dolphins in the water. If this isn't on your vision board already, it should be!

We will sail to Lonley Island, another incredible place, where no one will actually be lonely. We will snorkel or scuba (if that’s your speed). In the evening we will have a bonfire on the island and cry because we are about to say goodbye.😭

what happens after i book? 

After you sign-up, Londa will contact you directly to discuss trip logistics and get you everything you need to successfully prepare for your experience!

IS EGYPT SAFE?

There are risks inherent to traveling to any country. Egypt is no different.

However, your safety is our top priority.

We continuously monitor the situation through official travel advisories and our local operations team. In the event of any concerns, we're prepared to swiftly adjust arrangements as needed, prioritizing the safety of both our travelers and team. You will be promptly notified if there are any changes to the situation.

To ensure your utmost safety during your time in Egypt, we have implemented the following additional measures:

24 to 48 hours before each departure, our local office liaises with tourist police to obtain approval for every itinerary.
Immediate notification is given to our local operator should there be any changes in advice or information.

We exclusively utilize private transport, ensuring your safety and comfort throughout all aspects of your journey.

What kind of accommodations?

Due to the places we will be staying, most accommodations are based on double-occupancy with two beds. There are a few situations where singles are available for an additional fee. If you are interested in this option, please let us know.

CAN i bring someone with me?

This particular trip welcomes all women. If you'd like another woman to join, you will both need to complete the application and be approved. Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to accommodate children.

ADDITIONAL budget outside of inclusions?

You will need to budget for any snacks or cocktails you have while we are away.  Souvenirs and tips as well. Depending on what/how much you plan to bring back, a couple hundred dollars should suffice. As for tips, these are as you see appropriate, but you could budget $10/day.

What is the cancellation / refund policy?

If a cancellation is made 61+ days prior to the commencement of the Travel Experience, you are entitled to a refund of all amounts paid, less 30% of the full price of the Travel Experience. If a cancellation is made 60-31 days prior to the commencement of the Travel Experience, you are entitled to a refund of all amounts paid, less 80% of the full price of the Travel Experience. We require you to purchase travel insurance, which, in the event of an emergency, covers any booking costs associated with the Travel Experience.

will kathrin be attending the trips?

Kathrin will not be joining us on these trips to Egypt. She will be preparing your transformational toolkit and living vicariously through your experiences!

DO I HAVE TO COVER MY HAIR?

Entering a mosque would be the only time you are required to cover your hair. Egypt is a more conservative country though, and we do advise you to dress more modestly.

How will you support my transformation? 

In addition to this travel experience that will help you build connection and stretch you outside your comfort zone, we will be creating a 3-part transformational toolkit:

Pre-departure: Resources to prepare you for your experience. May include reading material, meditations, and journal prompts.

Departure: While on the experience, we will be incorporating intention setting, breathwork, daily gratitude and journal prompts.

Return Home: We will provide support and resources to help you process your experience and integrate what you’ve learned into your day to day life.

What airport do we need to arrive into? 

You will be flying into Cairo International Airport (CAI). 

What time will we need to arrive/depart?

We ask that you plan to arrive between 5:00 pm-2:00 am on the day we are scheduled to begin (flights after midnight technically arrive the next day). We will discuss these arrival/departure times in detail once you have been accepted.

Do I need any vaccinations or medications for egypt?

We advise you to contact your doctor several months ahead of departure to determine your specific needs. We always recommend a prescription for Travelers Diarrhea  just in case. You can also check the CDC website for their detailed recommendations. 

Do I need Travel insurance?

Every guest on a Manifested Adventures trip must provide proof of travelers insurance for the dates of travel. There are a variety of providers online. If you require any recommendations, please e-mail londa@manifestedadventures.com.

Does EGYPT have any COVID requirements?

Egypt currently has no COVID specific requirements for entry.

Will there be airport to villa transfers?

Assuming you are arriving and departing within the arrival and departure window listed above, you will be provided with airport transfers. 

Do I need a Visa?

If you are a US passport holder you are eligible for an e-visa which is valid for 6 months and allows you to remain for 60 days. This can be purchased on arrival or online in advance. The visa can be purchased for roughly $25 USD. As every country is different, you may look up the rules for each nation here.

Is the water in EGYPT drinkable?

It is not advisable to drink the water in Egypt. Our accommodations provide filtered water and we suggest avoiding ice and tap water at restaurants.

What level of fitness do I need to be at for this experience?

This trip includes a good amount of walking, swimming and climbing stairs. Obviously, you can take breaks and take a pause if necessary, but it would be best for you to have a moderate fitness level. We always suggest consulting with your doctor prior to attending a travel experience like this.

What is the weather like in EGYPT?

The weather in Egypt in September is quite warm!  Temperatures range between 70-100F. It depends on the area you are located and time of day.
