Welcome to Cusco, Altitude: High AF
After landing in Cusco, you will be transferred to the boutique hotel, Antigua Casona San Blas. Upon arrival to the hotel, treat yourself to rapid altitude acclimatization with a 40-minute session in the hotel's very own gentle hyperbaric chamber. This experience enhances oxygen metabolism in your body and mind, mitigating altitude-related discomfort effectively. Rejuvenate your senses and prepare for your Cusco adventure with increased oxygen levels and deep relaxation, ensuring a revitalizing start to your journey amidst the Andean heights. Our first delicious dinner together in Peru will be right in the comfort of our gorgeous hotel, at Piedra & Sal. DAY 1: OCTOBER 3rd
Temple of the Moon
This morning we'll go horseback riding to the Temple of the Moon, seated right outside of Cusco, a journey that showcases the city's ancient history and natural beauty.
As you traverse the rugged terrain, guided by knowledgeable locals, you'll witness breathtaking vistas of the Andean landscape. The temple itself, nestled in the hills near Cusco, offers a mystical atmosphere and panoramic views
In the afternoon, you will have the option to join a guided walking tour of Cusco. Witness the lively energy of the San Pedro market, a hub of local activity where you'll find a colorful array of produce, textiles, and traditional foods. Wander through the picturesque San Blas plaza, known for its quaint restaurants and skilled artisans, offering a perfect glimpse into Cusco's artistic soul. You will have the evening free to rest or explore on your own.
DAY 2
Pisco, Ceviche & the 4 Incan Ruins
A fully hands-on cooking class in Cusco begins in the San Pedro neighborhood with a tour of this historic market. We'll taste some of Peru's most exotic fruits and traditional Cusco foods like fruits, cheeses, and chocolate. Then, we will make our way to their cooking studio.The class kicks off with two delicious cocktails crafted with fresh fruits and Pisco bought from the local market. Next, the cooking begins with three different Peruvian dishes: Ceviche, Causa Limeña, and Quinoa Tamal.
In the afternoon, guided by knowledgeable locals, you’ll journey into the heart of the Inca Empire, exploring iconic landmarks like the Cathedral and the revered Temple of the Sun, where colonial and Inca histories intertwine.
The tour continues to the Four Inca Ruins. This immersive experience offers a comprehensive glimpse into the architectural and cultural brilliance of the Inca civilization.
DAY 3
Journey to the Sacred Valley
This day will begin our journey to Ollaytantambo. On the way we'll be enjoying a beautiful lunch in a local Ocutuan community where you will have the opportunity to learn about their traditional way of life in an authentic and respectful manner. Here, we'll engage with this high Andean community, learning about their artisanship and farming techniques. After our cultural immersion experience in Chincheros we will continue on to Las Qolqas EcoResort in Ollantaytambo,
As you step into your luxury tent, you'll be greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, characterized by sustainable architecture and eco-friendly practices.
You will then have the opportunity to experience the essence of Andean culture in a music ceremony where music intertwines with meditative spaces. This ceremony invites introspection and connection with ancient traditions amidst the Andean landscapes.
DAY 4
Machu Picchu. Need I Say More?
You've arrived at one of the Seven Wonders of the World! Machu Picchu, a marvel of ancient architecture and engineering, stands as a testament to the ingenuity and skill of the Inca civilization. Perched high in the Andes, its stunning mountainous backdrop only enhances its grandeur and mystery. Unfamiliar to the Spanish conquerors and undocumented by the Incas, Machu Picchu remained a hidden gem for centuries, shrouded in jungle, until its "rediscovery" in 1911 by the American historian Hiram Bingham.
As we explore this enigmatic site, we’ll follow the new regulations designed to preserve its beauty and integrity. Our visit is scheduled for the afternoon, and we will have a specified time slot to wander the park, ensuring a serene and uncrowded experience. A guide will accompany us, providing rich historical and cultural insights into Machu Picchu, its purpose, and its significance to the Inca Empire.
DAY 5
Starry Nights & Deep Reverence
This morning we visit the city's archaeological site, a magnificent example of Inca urban planning, including remains of an Inca city and impressive views of the current settlement.
Tonight, we're staying at an extra special spot, Star Dome Lodge! With unparalleled mountaintop views, authentic immersion with a local family, the Quechua culture, and the spiritual history of the Valley - this is truly a one of a kind accommodation.
In the evening we will participate in The Despacho, an ancient Peruvian ritual that embodies celebration, reverence, and gratitude. It provides a unique opportunity to engage in deep meditation and embrace the profound interconnectedness of all existence. This ceremonial practice offers a profound connection with the Apus, the sacred mountains, without relying on the use of plant medicine.
DAY 6
Salt Mines & Inca Exploration
After savoring a delightful breakfast at our hotel, we embark on an enchanting 1.5-hour journey through the Sacred Valley, heading towards the charming town of Maras. Renowned for its ancient salt mines, Maras offers a glimpse into a practice that dates back to the time of the Incas.
We will then stop at Moray. Our knowledgeable guide will lead us through the site, revealing the secrets of this fascinating Incan agricultural laboratory. Moray's concentric terraces are a testament to the ingenuity of the Incas, who used this unique formation to create microclimates for experimenting with crop cultivation. As we walk among the terraces, you'll learn how the Incas ingeniously adapted to different environmental conditions to maximize agricultural productivity.

DAY 7
We're in the Jungle, Baby
After breakfast, we'll take a private shuttle about 20-minutes to the Cusco Airport for our domestic flight to the Amazon. Flight time is roughly one hour.
Upon arrival in Puerto Maldonado, capital of Madre de Dios, we will first take a 1-hour shuttle ride, followed by a 1-hour boat transfer to the lodge itself. Be ready for your first taste of our Amazonian cuisine, that will be during the boat ride, as you leave the city behind and enjoy the incredible landscapes along the way.
After settling into our accommodations, embark on a 30-minute walk from the lodge leads to the 42-meter-high observation tower. A staircase with railings provides safe access to the top, offering stunning views of the Tambopata National Reserve forest. From up high, observe various bird species native to the area, such as toucans, macaws, raptors, and more.
DAY 8
Ferngully Calling
Today we will embark on a captivating wildlife adventure at Tres Chimbadas Lake. After a 20-minute boat ride upriver and a scenic 30-minute walk, cruise the lake for 2 hours on a catamaran. Marvel at the panoramic sunrise mirrored on the tranquil waters, perfect for spotting unique Amazonian birds like herons, hoatzins, kingfishers, and toucans.
After having lunch at the lodge, explore the Ethnobotanical Garden at Centro Ñape, a communal organization dedicated to crafting natural medicines from rainforest plants.
Experience the nocturnal wonders of the Peruvian Amazon on a jungle night walk. Led by knowledgeable guides, embark on an exhilarating 1.5-hour trek from near the lodge. Delve into the rainforest's dark realm, alive with the calls of nocturnal creatures. Powerful lights reveal elusive species like tree frogs, shy snakes, and other jungle denizens rarely seen by day.
DAY 9
Polly Want a Cracker?
In the early morning, we'll head via boat to the parrot clay lick, where we'll witness the awe-inspiring sight of these vibrant birds. Parrots gather around these clay licks, remaining vigilant against predators. Once satisfied with their numbers, they descend to consume clay from the salt lick. Each morning, these parrots gather not only to feed but also to socialize, offering us a remarkable opportunity to witness this beautiful and unique spectacle.
This afternoon, we will visit the onsite organic fruit farm, where thorny bushes and lush cocoa trees conceal their purple pods near the trunk. Unlike North American cornfields or European vineyards, the Jungle Farm visit unveils the intricacies of tropical organic agriculture.
DAY 10
Last Days in Lima
Today we will make our way out of the Amazon and head to Lima and prepare to say our goodbyes at our farewell dinner.
Pía León rose to fame as the head chef of Central, which in 2023 is named The World’s Best Restaurant. But in 2018, she felt the need to express her culinary vision in an independent way. Kjolle is her first solo restaurant. Kjolle, one of Lima's premier dining destinations, you'll be instantly captivated by the modern yet warm and inviting atmosphere. Nestled in the vibrant Barranco district, Kjolle offers a perfect blend of contemporary design and elements inspired by Peru’s rich natural landscapes. Tonight's Farewell Dinner at Kjolle is not just a meal but an immersive cultural experience. From the first sip of your welcome drink to the last bite of dessert, your group is treated to the finest examples of Peruvian cuisine, hospitality, and storytelling, making it an unforgettable finale to our journey in Peru.
